How to download video submissions in bulk from Vloggi

Updated by JUSTIN WASTNAGE

Vloggi is a video submission management platform that helps you gather video content through video questionnaires, surveys, or contests. Once your video project is up and running, you'll have a library of video content with re-use permissions ready for your next campaign, video edit, or archive. Here’s a guide on how to download your video content in bulk from Vloggi.

Step-by-Step Guide to Download Videos in Bulk

  1. Use Vloggi Studio's Built-In Editing Features

Vloggi Studio allows for basic editing, including selecting and compiling video clips:

- Select Clips: Click on the top right corner of the clips you want. A purple checkmark will appear on the selected clips.

- Create a Story: Once clips are selected, click on "Make a story." This will open the compilation editor where you can:

- Reorder the clips

- Add intro/outro sequences

- Change the audio or background music

  1. Download Videos for Offline Editing

If you want to export videos for offline editing, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Create Shortlists of Clips

We recommend creating shortlists of 20-50 clips to avoid issues with large file sizes when downloading or exporting. You can create shortlists in several ways:

- Use Tags: Apply tags using the bulk tagging feature, then filter by specific tags to create your shortlist.

- Use Favorites: Favorite the clips you want, then filter by favorites.

- Use Voting: Let team members, clients, or others vote on the best clips, then filter based on votes.

  • Step 2: Select Clips for Bulk Action

Once your shortlist is ready:

- Filter by your selection method (favorites, tags, or votes).

- Click on Select All to select all the clips in the current shortlist. Each clip should now show a purple checkmark.

- Go to Bulk Actions to proceed.

  • Step 3: Choose Your Export Method

You have two options for bulk downloads:

- Bulk Archive: This will package the selected clips into a downloadable zip file.

- Bulk Export: This will export the selected clips to a connected cloud storage account (i.e. Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive).

  1. Downloading via Bulk Archive

- After selecting Bulk Archive, the system will zip the files. This process takes 5-15 minutes depending on the size of the files.

- Once complete, the zip file will appear in the Stories and Exports tab of Vloggi Studio, ready for download.

  1. Exporting to Cloud Storage

- To use Bulk Export, first authorize the integration with your cloud storage account (Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive) in Settings.

- After selecting Bulk Export, the files will be sent to the root folder of your cloud storage within 10-15 minutes.

  1. Repeat for Additional Clips

Create additional shortlists and repeat the process until all the clips you need have been exported or downloaded.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: Is there a size limit for downloads?
We recommend exporting 20-50 clips or around 20 minutes of total content at a time. Larger exports (over 15GB) may fail due to system limitations and cause the folder to be too large for many computers to handle.
Q2: Can I download an entire project?
We recommend against downloading the entire project at once. While the videos remain in Vloggi, they are categorized, tagged, and protected. Attempting to download all clips at once can result in a file size too large for most computers to process effectively.
Q3: How do I handle large transfers?
If you are on a corporate plan or above, we can arrange for large bulk transfers directly to your cloud drives, and provide real-time integrations for more efficient handling of large amounts of video content.

This guide should help you manage your video downloads efficiently and ensure a smooth process for offline editing or archival.
